  • Sherifdeen Al-Kadriyar recounts the harrowing abduction and murder of Nabeeha, revealing bandits’ brutality and ransom demands, urging government intervention
  • Tragic incident leads to the loss of Alhaji Abdulfatai during a police rescue operation, escalating the urgency for government intervention

Sherifdeen Al-Kadriyar, an uncle of the recently kidnapped and murdered victim, Nabeeha, shared the harrowing details of the family’s ordeal in Abuja. The incident involved the abduction of Nabeeha, her father, and sisters in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) last Tuesday.

Alhaji Abdulfatai, the uncle who led the police rescue operation, tragically lost his life during a gunfire exchange with the bandits. Two of the three injured policemen also succumbed to their wounds.

Recounting the heart-wrenching experience, Nabeeha’s uncle revealed that the bandits, angered by the family’s inability to meet their N60 million ransom demand, carried out the gruesome act.

“On Friday, the day the deadline lapsed, they called, and we tried to plead, stating we raised close to N30 million. After negotiations, they instructed us to come for a ‘message’ at night. When we arrived past 10 pm, the shocking scene unfolded – Nabeeha and three others brutally murdered, leaving us with her corpse while the other three victims’ fate remained uncertain due to failed negotiations,” he said.

Sherifdeen added, “They warned they would kill the remaining siblings if the increased ransom of N100 million, N20 million each for the five of them, is not met by the next Wednesday deadline. They rejected the nearly N30 million we took, further insulting and threatening us.”

He urgently appealed to the state and federal government to intervene for the safety of the remaining captives, emphasizing the increased threat.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force, through spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, assured ongoing efforts in rescuing the victims. The Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the expansion of tactical intelligence units to combat kidnapping.

“In the wake of the abduction of six young girls in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, it is vital to state that the Police Force has already initiated a comprehensive plan of action,” Adejobi stated, stressing the importance of discretion to safeguard ongoing operations.
