  • During an Armed Forces Remembrance Day service, Governor Mutfwang expresses gratitude, calls for improved care for fallen heroes and veterans

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary tools and a conducive environment for the armed forces to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities of safeguarding lives and property in the state.

Governor Mutfwang made this declaration on Sunday in Jos during the interdenominational thanksgiving service commemorating the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the ECWA Unity Church in Rayfield.

Recognizing the armed forces as a vital institution for Nigeria’s survival, the governor emphasized that addressing issues to enhance and uplift the morale of personnel to carry out their duties effectively is a key agenda for his administration.

During the Thanksgiving service, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude, saying, “This is a service in remembrance of our fallen heroes. We want to thank God for those great men and women who devoted themselves to the service of the nation and, in the line of duty, lost their lives while others were maimed or became incapacitated.”

He highlighted the unfortunate neglect of those who served the nation and called for improved care and support for them.

Additionally, Governor Mutfwang regarded the recent Supreme Court judgment validating his election as a victory for himself and the citizens of Plateau. He dedicated the victory to God and described the interdenominational service as a divine arrangement, the first service he attended after the Supreme Court validated his election.

During the sermon, Rev. Elisha McPhilips, the Director of ECWA EMS, expressed confidence in the Nigerian Army’s ability to end terrorism, armed banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the country. Former COCIN president, Rev. Pandam Yamsat, offered special prayers for the Nigeria Legions and the Armed Forces, praying for more wisdom in carrying out the significant task of safeguarding Plateau and the country.
