Mr. Kenneth Imasuagbon, the Labour Party’s governorship aspirant in Edo State, confidently proclaimed that his party possesses the potential to secure victory in the upcoming governorship election. Imasuagbon attributed this optimism to his belief that the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has spent the last eight years merely speaking English.

Expressing his confidence after obtaining the Edo State Governorship Election Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the Labour Party headquarters in Abuja, Imasuagbon asserted that if he secures the party’s ticket, he has the necessary influence to mobilize Edo voters to support the Labour Party.

In a spirited declaration, Imasuagbon asserted, “It’s my turn to be the state’s next governor, and I’m issuing a ‘yellow card’ to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Obaseki.” He dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming it has no significant presence in the state.

Imasuagbon characterized the moment as “exciting” and symbolic of positive change. He criticized Obaseki’s tenure, emphasizing the need for change due to alleged issues such as poor infrastructure, insecurity, and electoral malpractices.

“Obaseki has spoken English for the last eight years but has done nothing for the people. I left the PDP; the party is a monumental failure. I would rate Obaseki at 2%,” Imasuagbon declared emphatically.

Touching on the zoning issue, Imasuagbon argued for justice, fairness, and equity in selecting the next governor. He advocated for Edo Central, a region that has never produced a governor, to receive the Labour Party ticket.

“I’ve put in 20 years of hard work crisscrossing Edo State 10 times. No one knows Edo State like me. Labour Party should give me the ticket, and when they do, it’s finished,” he confidently stated.

Imasuagbon expressed readiness for any primaries, asserting that he possesses the qualities needed for victory, be it through direct or indirect means.
