An unidentified Nigerian woman was apprehended by Indian customs officials at the international airport, accused of smuggling cocaine valued at ₹82 crore (about N8.8 billion).
The arrest, captured in a video by Asian News International and confirmed through an official statement, occurred after her arrival from Addis Ababa on Tuesday.
During a thorough baggage search, 5.8 kg of a white powdery substance suspected to be narcotics was discovered concealed in two blue trolley bags.
Subsequent diagnostic testing indicated the presence of commercial quantities of cocaine. The suspect was arrested, and the illicit substances were confiscated.
“Based on specific intelligence, Customs at IGI Airport has arrested one Nigerian pax who arrived from Addis Ababa having concealed cocaine weighing 5.88kg valued at Rs 82.448 crores in her bags. The drug has been seized under NDPS Act, 1985.
Investigations are underway: Customs,” ANI captioned the video.
