The Ebonyi State Police Command, in alignment with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s policy, has established a Complaint Response Unit (CRU), as announced by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu.
This unit, previously part of the Nigeria Police Force, has now been decentralized to state commands, aiming to enhance accountability, transparency, and swift resolution of public complaints against officers.
Ukandu emphasized that the CRU will serve as a focal point for receiving and addressing grievances from the public regarding police personnel in the command.
“It is part of our efforts to offer a more convenient and effective process for handling complaints against police officers, thereby ensuring that the rights and dignity of all individuals are respected,” the police spokesman added.
According to him, the command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Augustina Ogbodo, is committed to professionalism and ethical conduct.
“The setting up of the CRU reasserts our commitment to building trust and confidence within the community we serve.
“We urge members of the public to approach the CRU to report any issues or grievances they may have against police officers serving in the command. By working together, we can ensure a better and more accountable police force for all.
