Kwara State University’s management has affirm its commitment to collaborating with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to eliminate cybercrime and illicit drugs within the student body.

In a statement on the university’s Facebook page, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Luqman Jimoh, along with stakeholders, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education and the Governing Council Chairman, met with the EFCC’s zonal commander to address recent operations and ensuing disturbances in the school community.

The statement quoted Jimoh as saying, “The institution is always ready to work in partnership with the EFCC to wipe out cyber criminality and other related crimes from among its student body. The unrest caused by the sting operations could have been mitigated if both parties were on the same page.

“However, the university has been proactive, especially with the policy of zero tolerance for all vices, the institution would explore other methods to address the vice.”

However, the EFCC Zonal Commander, Micheal Nzekwe, according to the post, expressed readiness to partner with the university management.

“We are ready to partner with the school management; as the commission has been on surveillance of the area for a while, and it has become imperative to check the activities of the individuals,” Nzekwe said.
