  • Suspending Senator Ningi without a proper inquiry might give rise to suspicions that the Senate is attempting to conceal any potential wrongdoings.
  • We must maintain transparency and accountability in our governance, and this includes addressing allegations of financial misconduct.

Abdullahi Ahmed Wakili, a senatorial candidate for the People Redemption Party (PRP) in Kaduna-North in 2023, has harshly denounced what he called “the hasty suspension” of Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi by the Nigerian Senate.

He claims that the claims of budget padding, which total a startling N3 trillion, are extremely concerning and need to be thoroughly looked into before any judgments are made.

He remarked in a statement that he personally released on Wednesday in Kaduna

The statement reads; ”As the 2023 Kaduna-North Senatorial Candidate, I strongly condemn the hasty suspension of esteemed Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi by the Nigerian Senate. While we must uphold the integrity of our legislative body, it is crucial to ensure due process and fairness. The allegations of budget padding, amounting to a staggering 3 trillion Naira, are of utmost concern and should be thoroughly investigated before arriving at any conclusions.

Suspending Senator Ningi without a proper inquiry might give rise to suspicions that the Senate is attempting to conceal any potential wrongdoings. We must maintain transparency and accountability in our governance, and this includes addressing allegations of financial misconduct.

I urge the Nigerian Senate to reconsider their decision and allow for a comprehensive investigation into the claims made by Senator Ningi. This will not only strengthen the credibility of our institutions but also ensure that the voices of concerned citizens are heard and addressed. In doing so, we can foster a more just and responsible government that serves the interests of all Nigerians.
