  • The incident happened around 10am at the Shafa Holdings Company plc headquarters along Jos Road

Four persons have lost their lives during a Ramadan almsgiving zakat for the poor in Bauchi State.

The deceased persons met their end after a pandemonium broke during the scramble and struggle to get alms by the throng of people who flocked the almsgiving location.

The incident happened around 10am at the Shafa Holdings Company plc headquarters along Jos Road, on Sunday.

According to Daily Post, a 17-year-old identified as Naima Abdullahi, is currently receiving medical treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmed Wakili, confirmed the incident.

He, however, said the situation has been been brought under control and normalcy has returned as of the time of filing his report.

Wakili said the police acted swiftly upon hearing the news, adding that the police commissioner encouraged the public to be civil and decorous in their actions.

The incident is happening less than 48 hours after five students of Nasarawa State University died in a stampede at a warehouse where government palliatives were stored.
