Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives apprehended Akinjobi Wahab for attempting to steal their patrol motorcycle.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the state police command, disclosed in a Sunday post on X that the 19-year-old suspect was captured around 4 am on Acme Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
He was accompanied by four other suspects, who are currently evading capture. Unbeknownst to Wahab, who brandished a machete, the individuals on the motorcycle were undercover police officers.
“This is coming on the heels of the emplacement of regular foot and vehicular patrols in the area by the Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, in response to repeated complaints that robbers operate around Agidingbi, Ikeja very early mornings,” Hundeyin wrote.
He said the suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
