  • Omehia criticizes Wike, calling him a clown and habitual liar, urging him to relinquish power to Governor Siminalayi Fubara
  • Describing Wike’s behaviour as erratic, Omehia accuses him of self-serving pursuits, suggesting frustration over failed ambitions for a third term

Celestine Omehia, former governor of Rivers State, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, labelling him as a clown and habitual liar.

Omehia urged Wike to curb his thirst for power and greed, allowing the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to carry out his duties without interference.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Saturday by his Executive Assistant, Nicholas Amaechi, Omehia responded to a recent live television interview hosted by Wike in Abuja.

During the interview, Wike reportedly referred to Omehia and other PDP leaders in Rivers State who expressed support for Governor Sim Fubara and President Bola Tinubu as “expired politicians and buccaneers.”

Omehia dismissed Wike’s remarks as the rantings of a confused individual, asserting that Wike’s frustration stems from his failed ambition for a third term in office. He claimed that Wike’s pursuit of power is self-serving rather than in the interest of Rivers State or the South-South region.

Omehia alleged that Wike had hoped to maintain control over state resources and governance but faced resistance from the people, preventing his impeachment by the Rivers State House of Assembly members.

However, Olaka Wogu, a former member of the House of Representatives and ally of Wike, disagreed with Omehia’s characterization.

Wogu defended Wike, portraying him as a leader who genuinely cares for the people and stands firm in his convictions. He refuted the accusation that Wike speaks from both sides of his mouth, asserting that Wike’s actions are guided by his principles and commitment to the welfare of the people.
