Matthew Urhoghide, a former senator representing Edo South, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Channels Television reported that Urhoghide made the switch at an event in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, on Saturday.
Urhoghide, a foundational member of the APC, expressed his commitment to contributing to the party’s growth in Edo State. He voiced his confidence in the APC’s leadership at both the state and national levels and pledged to support Monday Okpebholo, the APC’s gubernatorial candidate in Edo, in the upcoming election.
Prior to his defection, Urhoghide had been actively supporting Okpebholo’s campaign. Additionally, eight local government chairpersons were also welcomed into the APC at the same event.
Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo north and leader of the party in the state, welcomed the new members at the event.
Oshiomhole described Urhoghide as a “resourceful politician” whose experience will boost the party’s chances in the election.
