Rivers: Two men bag 12 years jail term for repeatedly raping 10-year-old girl

  • The Chief Magistrate Rita Oguguo held that the prosecution was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused raped the underage girl.

Two men have been sentenced to 12 years in prison for defiling a 10-year-old girl in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The duo, Lucky Christopher and Friday Lenu, were convicted and sentenced by a magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

The Chief Magistrate, Rita Oguguo, held that the prosecution was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused raped the underage girl.

Oguguo also held that the statement of the victim and the evidence presented substantiated the statement of the convicted.

It was revealed that before April 20, 2022, when the men were arrested, they had raped the little girl on several occasions. They had also threatened to kill her and her aunt if she ever revealed what happened.

The chief magistrate convicted the two men to seven years for count one and five years for count two, making a total of twelve years each, which is to run concurrently
