  • Governor Alia warns predecessor Ortom and former leaders against meddling, emphasizing intolerance for destabilizing actions in his administration
  • Alia urges former governors and civil servants to refrain from commentary, emphasizing the need for constructive contributions and respect for mandate

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State warned his predecessor, Chief Samuel Ortom, and other former leaders, urging them to refrain from meddling in his administration’s affairs. Alia emphasized that he would not tolerate any attempts to destabilize his government.

Alia’s response followed Ortom’s remarks during his 63rd birthday anniversary public lecture, during which he advised the governor to refrain from conflict with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, for the state’s development.

Addressing journalists upon his return from the USA, Alia asserted that former governors and civil servants should refrain from commentary if they have nothing constructive to contribute to Benue. He emphasized that their terms had passed, and it was time to allow the current administration to function without interference.

While Alia welcomed constructive criticism, he urged individuals to verify their facts before speaking out. He emphasized the importance of former leaders respecting the current government’s mandate and refraining from actions that could undermine its stability.

Alia also highlighted his recent visit to the USA, where he and nine other Northern Governors discussed strategies to address regional insecurity. He emphasized the priority of repatriating displaced persons and restoring peace to affected areas in Benue.

Additionally, Alia emphasized the progress made in restoring peace to various communities in the state, particularly in agricultural regions. He called on residents to remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring the security and prosperity of Benue, urging them not to succumb to external pressures or influence.
