A fatal road accident in Nigeria’s south west State of Ondo has left three people dead

The incident happened in the Akungba-Ikare Road in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the State on Friday.

The victims were said to have died on the spot, the driver of the car immediately fled the scene for fear of being lynched while youths in the area set the car ablaze.

The Ondo Sector Commander of the Road Safety Commission, Ezekiel Son’Allah, confirmed the accident, adding that it was caused by wrongful overtaking and route violation on the part of the vehicles involved.

“Three persons were killed while the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking and route violation. The victims were taken to Aduloju Hospital Akungba by the policemen,” Son’Allah said.

While cautioning motorists to avoid violating traffic rules, the FRSC boss opined that speed breakers should be mounted on the road to forestall recurrent crashes on the road
