The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), led by President-General Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, emphasizes the urgency of leaders initiating positive changes to renew the hopes of the Nigerian populace.

During the fifth anniversary celebration of Justice Sidi Bage-Mohammed (retd), the 17th Emir of Lafia, Sultan, who also serves as the National Chairman of traditional rulers, emphasized the imperative for Nigerians to prioritize national unity, underscoring the necessity for the nation to remain indivisible despite prevalent challenges.

He said, “We know that our leaders are trying, but the people are in a hurry to see positive changes that will renew their hopes for a better life.”

He pointed out that the presence of traditional rulers across the country in the state demonstrated unity and called on other Nigerians to follow suit.

“We are showing the whole world that royal fathers in this country are united; just look at the list of traditional rulers from the six geo-political zones that honoured the occasion,” he added.

Earlier, Ibn Umar-Garbai, Shehu of Borno, appealed to Nigerians to provide credible information about the activities of the Boko Haram insurgency, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements in the northeast and other parts of the country.

“When we keep quiet about the activities of criminals in our areas, we are inviting problems, so we should continue to enlighten our people to work with security agencies as traditional rulers,” he said.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State commended the support of traditional rulers, particularly the Emir of Lafia, in advancing his administration’s agenda. He pledged intensified efforts towards infrastructural development and citizen welfare.

The Emir of Lafia expressed gratitude for the support received over the past five years and expressed optimism for the nation’s continued unity amidst prevailing challenges.
