Lagos passenger dies as car collides with truck

  • The car driver sustained injuries while the female passenger succumbed to the impact of the collision

A woman, whose identity remains unknown, was reported deceased following a collision involving the car she was traveling in and a stationary 20-foot containerized truck at Isolo Under bridge towards Oshodi, Lagos State, on Friday.

According to Punch, the Kia car, bearing registration number KWL-475CZ, was speeding when it collided with the truck on the highway, as stated by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

The car driver sustained injuries while the female passenger succumbed to the impact of the collision.

Authorities, including LASTMA officials and the Nigeria Police, were present to extricate the trapped individual from the car.

The deceased victim was then wrapped and handed over to the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit for transportation to the morgue. The damaged car was relocated to Olosan Police Station, as reported.

“Meanwhile, we are awaiting the agency’s heavy-duty equipment i.e. a crane and low bed to recover the abandoned containerised truck off the road,” the statement read.

The identities of the victims were yet to be known at press time.
