The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo has announced the distribution of 373,030 uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) starting May 27.

This exercise will run concurrently with the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

According to Onuoha, the PVC collection exercise will take place in the 192 wards and the state headquarters of INEC in Edo.

  Statistics:

  • Registered voters in Edo: 2,501,081
  • Collected PVCs: 2,128,288
  • Uncollected PVCs: 373,030

Each registration center will be managed by two officials from the commission and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Onuoha emphasized that registered voters must collect their PVCs in person, as proxy collection will not be allowed.

He also noted that there will be no pre-registration option due to time constraints.

The REC appealed for the support of the media, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), traditional rulers, and religious leaders in encouraging voters to collect their PVCs.

He also announced that the commission has published the final list of candidates for the Edo governorship election following the conclusion of political parties’ primaries.

The Deputy Director, Voter Registry, INEC Abuja, Mrs. Doris Kande-Wyom, urged stakeholders to mobilize prospective registrants for the exercise.

The meeting was attended by chairmen of political parties, religious leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, and CSOs, among others.
