Former Special Adviser on Special Duties to Governor Hope Uzodimma, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, has been arrested by a special team of police detectives in Imo’s capital.

Nwaneri, a trusted aide of Uzodimma for over fifteen years, was apprehended at RockView Hotel in Owerri on Saturday and taken to the State Police Command headquarters.

An anonymous source reported that Nwaneri was taken back to his hotel room for a thorough search before being returned to the police command.

The reasons for his arrest remain unclear at this time.

BEYOND THE BALLOT: After over 20 opposition figures defected to APC, is Nigeria turning into a one-party state?

Recall that last year the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) called for the arrest of Chinasa Nwaneri, an aide to the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, over the attack on the residence of the group’s spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere.

However, the Imo State government said that those accusing Uzodimma and his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwaneri, of being responsible for razing down the country home of Ugochinyere, and killing three persons, last weekend, to stop such, alleging that the CUPP’s spokesperson is the architect of his litany of problems.
