  • Tinubu praised Wike’s effective performance and dedication as FCT Minister, leading to the completion of four major roads in under a year
  • Tinubu emphasized infrastructure development, noting ISEX’s extension symbolizes connectivity and opportunity, with more strategic projects planned for the FCT

President Bola Tinubu has remarked that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has ceased singing and dancing but continues performing effectively in his role. Tinubu made these comments during the inauguration of the extension of the Inner Southern Expressway (ISEX) and the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) to the Southern Parkway, known as the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Expressway, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu praised Wike’s appointment as one of the best political decisions in the current democratic era. He highlighted Wike’s dedication and hard work, which have led to the completion of four major roads in the FCT in less than a year. Tinubu emphasized that these roads are evidence of the administration’s commitment to a modern, prosperous, and inclusive Federal Capital.

“Today’s commissioning is the fourth completed road that we have proudly unveiled in the Federal Capital Territory, all executed in less than one year,” Tinubu stated. “I am grateful to His Excellency Barrister Nyesom Wike and his team for their dedication and hard work in making this road a reality. These roads prove our administration’s vision for a modern, prosperous, and inclusive Federal Capital.”

Tinubu underscored the importance of infrastructure development, noting that the extension of the ISEX symbolizes connectivity, accessibility, and opportunity, aiming to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas. He mentioned that many more strategic projects are in the pipeline to address the evolving needs of the FCT.

“As we celebrate this achievement, it is crucial once again to acknowledge the concerted efforts of the FCT Minister, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and his team, as well as all stakeholders involved, including private sector partners,” he added.

Praising Wike further, Tinubu described him as a “force of human nature” whose leadership has redefined the country’s leadership concept. He acknowledged initial opposition to Wike’s appointment but noted that even his critics now commend his work.

“Wike is one of the best appointments ever made in the history of the current democratic dispensation in this country, and we have to commend Mr. President for the vision, wisdom, and courage to appoint Barrister Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the FCT,” Tinubu said. “There were loud protests when his name was initially mentioned, but I believe all my brothers and sisters who opposed his appointment are now hailing him.”

Tinubu concluded by affirming the administration’s commitment to prioritizing infrastructural development as a cornerstone of their Renewed Hope Agenda, promising to deliver on their promises and build a nation that all Nigerians can be proud of.
