  • Labour Party FCT Chairman Diugwu is confident in winning all area council seats, citing strong grassroots support
  • Diugwu dismissed rigging concerns, emphasizing readiness to defend votes and noting defections from PDP, APC, and SDP to LP

Before next year’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) council elections, Labour Party (LP) FCT Chairman Peter Diugwu has expressed confidence in his party’s chances of winning all area council seats and wards.

On Saturday in Abuja during the Bwari/AMAC town hall meeting themed ‘Political Party Innovation and the Need for Youth Inclusivity,’ Diugwu emphasized the party’s strong presence and preparations.

“We believe the Labour Party will win this election any day. Area council elections are not a challenge because we have strong grassroots support,” Diugwu stated.

He accused the PDP and APC of planning to rig the elections but expressed faith in divine support for LP’s victory. “With the Almighty God we serve, we will capture all FCT area councils and wards,” he added.

When asked about the potential influence of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Diugwu dismissed concerns, stating, “Wike is from Rivers. To become a landlord here, you need to have stayed 5-10 years. FCT is not a place where thugs can sway elections. We have the highest security agencies and are ready to defend our votes.”

Diugwu explained that the town hall meeting served as a check-in with their supporters and to gauge their current standing. He noted that members from other political parties, including PDP, APC, and SDP, are defecting to the Labour Party, indicating growing support.
