  • Alia praised the President for his extraordinary assistance

Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue has credited all his achievements in office over the past year to President Bola Tinubu. Alia expressed this sentiment on Friday during his thank-you tour of the Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency held in Makurdi, the state capital.

He emphasized that every accomplishment, including the construction of roads and an underpass, the payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities, and the remodeling of the Assembly Complex and State Secretariat, was made possible by President Tinubu’s support.

Alia praised the President for his extraordinary assistance and urged the people of Benue to be patient, assuring them that the President had “very good intentions for the citizenry.”

Alia also promised to renovate and upgrade the Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) Square in Makurdi to international standards, noting that the facilities at the over 30-year-old square, built during the military era, were outdated and needed urgent attention.

He highlighted that his administration had constructed 16 township roads within the state and was also building an underpass in Makurdi and Gboko. Additionally, he announced that more roads in the constituency would soon be awarded. Moving forward, the payment of salaries and pensions would begin on the 22nd of every month.

Earlier, Sen. Barnabas Gemade, Chairman of the Benue APC Elder’s Forum, described Gov. Alia’s rise to governorship as divine. Gemade noted that Alia’s administration had employed thousands into the state civil service and ensured regular payment, in contrast to previous governors who struggled to pay even with a smaller workforce.

Mr. Benjamin Omakolo, the Acting Chairman of Benue APC, welcomed not less than 4,000 defectors from other political parties into the APC within the constituency and assured them of equal treatment.
