The Nigeria Labour Congress national transition committee members stormed the Labour Party headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

They demanded the immediate resignation of National Chairman Julius Abure.

The transition committee’s Acting Chairman, Aduwaheed Omar, led the protest.

The protesters chanted solidarity songs and called for Abure’s resignation, citing the expiration of his tenure as party chairman.

The protesters tried to force their way in, but police fired teargas to disperse them.

The protesters continued shouting at the security personnel to “open the gate.”

The protest was a dramatic display of the ongoing power struggle within the Labour Party.

The demand for Abure’s resignation indicates tht deepening crisis facing the party.
