  • Yusuf stated his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector, with the Education Recovery Conference aiming to address the issues plaguing Kano’s education system

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed concern over the deplorable state of the education system inherited by his administration. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Kano State Education Recovery Conference, Governor Yusuf lamented that his government met a “collapsed” education system characterized by decaying infrastructure, low learning outcomes, and overall neglect.

The conference, organized jointly by PLANE Nigeria, the Arewa Consultative Forum, and the Kano State Government, aims to revitalize and reposition education in Kano. Governor Yusuf claimed, “We inherited a collapsed education system, deliberately destroyed and vandalized. Schools were left without maintenance and no instructional materials, yet we were running a free and compulsory education system.”

Despite these challenges, Governor Yusuf expressed his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector, highlighting various initiatives and investments made over the past year. The Education Recovery Conference, which brought together stakeholders from across the state, aims to address the issues plaguing Kano’s education sector and ensure that every child has access to quality education.
