Manchester United have appointed former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as manager Erik ten Hag’s assistant, in another move aimed at restoring the record 20-time English champions to their former glory.
Rene Hake was also hired as an assistant to complete an all-Dutch management team.
Ten Hag has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Premier League club until 2026, despite a disappointing season in which United finished eighth in the league.
“Now is a good time to refresh the coaching team as we look to build on the achievements of the past two years and push to the next level,” Ten Hag told reporters.
