Kwara state sets up committee for minimum wage adjustments

The committee comprises state government officials, labour representatives

  • It aims to determine the consequential adjustments for senior workers in the state

The Kwara State Government has established a 21-member tripartite committee to address the consequential adjustment component for other categories of workers following the new national minimum wage of N70,000.

Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq approved the formation of the committee, as stated in a press release from the Government House on Thursday. The committee includes representatives from the state government, labour centres, and the organized private sector.

The statement, signed by Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye, detailed the committee’s composition:

Chaired by the Head of Service and co-chaired by the Commissioner for Finance

Members include: Commissioners for Budget and Planning, Works and Transports, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Communications; Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor; Permanent Secretaries (Finance, Service Welfare, Justice); Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters
Labour representatives: Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Council, Chairman of COHESU, Secretary of the JNC
Private sector representatives: Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, and Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.

The committee’s task is to work out the consequential adjustments for senior cadres of workers in the state.
