  • He said that the remaining 40 had been charged to court.

The Nasarawa police command says 40 suspects arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protest in the state have been charged to court.

The #EndBadGovernance protest commenced in many cities across the country on August 1, with protesters demanding an end to economic hardship and insecurity, among others, from the federal government.

In some parts of the country, the protests have led to widespread looting and vandalism of private and public properties.

Speaking to NAN on Thursday, Ramhan Nansel, the command’s spokesperson, said the suspects were arraigned for allegedly attacking officers and looting.

According to NAN, police detained 50 demonstrators across four local government areas on August 1 — the initial day of the protest.

“25 suspects were arrested in Lafia, 16 in Karu, six in Keffi, as well as three in Mararaba Udege of Nasarawa Local Government Area,” it said.

The police spokesperson said that 10 underage individuals, who were among the 50 protesters, were reunited with their families after being freed from custody.

Nansel reassured the public to continue with their normal activities, free from fear of harassment or threats.
