The incident happened at the Murtala Mohammed international airport.
Reacting to the incident in a statement on Monday, the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, said it has launched an investigation into the matter.
Her husband on Thursday also said what happened at the airport was a skit, adding that what she tore was not his passport.
in a video shared on the family’s Instagram page, the man, who could be seen in the company of his children, begged Nigerians to forgive him and understand.
However, in a new development on Thursday, the woman was arrested at Lagos and transported to Abuja for interrogation.
In a now trending video, the Italy-based woman was escorted by immigration officers to a vehicle upon her arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
