As the 2024 Edo State governorship election approaches, Professor Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jr., convener of the Country First Movement, has shared his thoughts on the candidates, describing the race as fascinating and predictable.

Nwaokobia, known for his advocacy for good governance, highlighted that the upcoming election presents a clear choice for the people of Edo State. He identified three main contenders: Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP), and Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He particularly praised Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate, as the most qualified and capable of the three. Nwaokobia commended Ighodalo’s manifesto, “Prosperity for All,” which outlines his vision and policies for the state’s future. He also acknowledged Ighodalo’s extensive consultations with Edo residents both within and outside Nigeria and his commitment to unity and prosperity for the state.

Nwaokobia emphasized Ighodalo’s impressive background, noting his experience as the chairman of several blue-chip companies and a successful law firm. He urged voters to consider Ighodalo’s qualifications and vision, expressing confidence that he is the race’s most credible and capable candidate. Nwaokobia highlighted Ighodalo’s dedication to justice, equity, and fairness, which makes Ighodalo the best choice for Edo State.

In his remarks, Nwaokobia said, “The choice of the Edo people is Asue Ighodalo, fondly called A.I., not to be confused with artificial intelligence, but known by his initials. He was the first of the leading three candidates to present his manifesto called ‘Prosperity for All’ to the Edo electorate. In it, he laid out his vision for an Edo State that works for everyone. He articulated his programs and policies, and explained how he intends to achieve them.”

Nwaokobia concluded by expressing confidence that Ighodalo’s leadership will bring progress and prosperity to Edo State.
