  • Dr. Abdulmumin Ajia resigns from APC, citing the party’s incompetence and failure to deliver on promises, causing “misery and death” to Nigerians
  • Ajia calls for like-minded individuals to leave the APC and support nationwide protests against economic hardships under the current government

Dr. Abdulmumin Ajia, a former governorship candidate in Kwara State, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the party’s “gross incompetence” and “loss of legitimacy” under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In his resignation letter to the state APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, Ajia expressed his deep disappointment with the party’s failure to deliver on its promises, accusing it of causing “misery and death” to Nigerians.

Ajia, the governorship candidate for the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) in the 2019 elections, has called on like-minded individuals to leave the APC and work towards bringing “real change” to Nigeria. He confirmed his resignation in a phone interview, noting that his recent criticism of the APC leadership had sparked significant debate within political circles, highlighting growing discontent among some party members in Kwara State.

Ajia also expressed his support for the nationwide protests against the country’s economic hardships, accusing the government of insensitivity. He criticized the lavish lifestyle of government officials, contrasting it with the struggles of ordinary Nigerians who are being asked to continue sacrificing.

In response to Ajia’s resignation, the APC state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, stated that the party is not distracted by the departure. He wished Ajia well, emphasizing that the APC focuses on prioritizing the people and demonstrating its capacity to govern effectively.
