  • He explained that the complexity of the process requires careful planning.
  • He added that a committee has been established to review the report and finalise the details.

Femi Gbajabiamila, President Bola Tinubu’s chief of staff, has revealed that there is no fixed schedule for putting the Stephen Oronsaye report into action.

The report proposes streamlining government agencies to reduce operational costs by eliminating or consolidating certain bodies.

In February, the president instructed that the Oronsaye report be fully executed to boost productivity in the federal service and minimize governance expenses.

A 10-member committee was announced in March for the implementation of the Oronsaye report.

Despite the plan to cut the cost of governance, Tinubu has hinted at the possibility of creating a ministry of livestock development.

Speaking with reporters in Abuja on Tuesday after visiting the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) headquarters, Gbajabiamila said the implementation of the report “is not as easy as it sounds”.

“Yes we have been talking about this for months now, but anything worth doing is worth doing properly. It is not as easy as it sounds,” the chief of staff said.

“A committee has been set and I’m sure very soon a full and final report will be out and implementation will begin.

“I can’t give you an exact timeline. We don’t want to sacrifice thoroughness on the altar of anxiety.

“It will be done soon.”
