  • MoU was signed by Keyamo and Anbessie Yitbarek, Boeing’s Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Africa

The federal government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boeing, the leading aircraft manufacturer.

Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, signed the agreement in Seattle, Washington, USA, in front of key Nigerian aviation stakeholders such as airline executives, the top management team of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and representatives, among others.

The MoU was signed by Keyamo and Anbessie Yitbarek, Boeing’s Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Africa.

The agreement’s highlights include simplified aircraft acquisition, improved technical support, training, and development, maintenance and engineering support, and airport and MRO development, among other things.

Keyamo’s media aide, Tunde Moshood, in a statement, said Boeing would leverage its extensive network of financiers to help Nigerian airlines acquire new generation Boeing aircraft, thus modernising their fleets.

The statement reads in part: “The agreement includes provisions for comprehensive training in airline operations and business models, aimed at improving the business practices and operational efficiency of Nigerian airlines.

“Boeing will grant Nigerian airlines access to its vast repository of maintenance documents, engineering drawings, parts purchasing, and flight operations documents, streamlining maintenance practices and reducing operational downtimes.
