  • Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf instructs the judicial committee to investigate recent killings and property destruction, ensuring accountability for guilty parties
  • Yusuf emphasizes the need to engage community leaders to restore moral values and prevent youth involvement in crime

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has instructed the judicial committee of enquiry investigating the killings and destruction of property during the recent nationwide protest against hunger and hardship to work diligently and ensure that no guilty party is spared.

The governor made this statement shortly after inaugurating the committee, which is tasked with investigating the events that led to the deaths of innocent people, the destruction of public and private properties, and the looting carried out by some suspected thugs.

Governor Yusuf said, “We have the confidence and courage to do what is right, regardless of the consequences. On behalf of the government and the good people of the state, I appeal to you to discharge this responsibility diligently and honestly, as a service to your state and nation.”

He further emphasized, “Things need to change. We need to identify those who perpetrate most of these crimes. Engage religious and traditional leaders and ask for their contributions on restoring moral values in young people’s minds. Many young men have been arrested and prosecuted. Visit them, and find out what motivates them to engage in such activities. Don’t spare anyone found guilty, but anyone who is found innocent should be released.”
