  • The Barau I Jibrin Foundation announces its first batch of 2024 foreign postgraduate scholarships, focusing on fields like AI and cybersecurity
  • Senator Barau aims to address the shortage of experts in technology through scholarships for deserving students from Kano State’s districts

The Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), founded by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator (Dr.) Barau I Jibrin, CON, has announced the first batch of recipients for its 2024 foreign postgraduate scholarships. These scholarships cover advanced studies in artificial intelligence, robotics technology, cybersecurity, and forensic science.

Senator Barau, also the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, created the foundation to support humanitarian, educational, and empowerment initiatives across the country.

Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau’s special adviser on Media and Publicity, stated that the foundation has secured admissions for deserving students from the three Senatorial Districts of Kano State (Kano Central, Kano North, and Kano South) to pursue postgraduate programs abroad.

The scholarship program aims to foster academic excellence and boost the country’s technological progress. Mudashir says, “The scholarship program is limited to artificial intelligence, robotics technology, cybersecurity, and forensic science in line with the Deputy President of the Senate’s goal to contribute to addressing the shortage of experts in these specialized fields.”
