  • On July 31, 2023, Tinubu appointed Ngelale, an ex-aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, as his special adviser on media and publicity.
  • On May 19, 2024, the president appointed Ngelale as the special presidential envoy on climate action.

Former Kaduna South lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has reacted to Ajuri Ngelale’s resignation as President Bola Tinubu’s media adviser.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Ngelale submitted a memo to President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, announcing his indefinite leave of absence from official duties due to pressing health concerns affecting his immediate family.

In addition to his role as media adviser, Ngelale has also stepped down as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

“I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to frontally deal with medical matters presently affecting my immediate, nuclear family,” Ngelale said.

Ngelale expressed his desire to return to full-time national service when circumstances permit, adding, “I respectfully ask for some privacy for my family and I during this time”.

Reacting to the news, Sani expressed relief that Ngelale can finally take a well-deserved break and regain his strength.

Sani said: “Ajuri can now rest well, sleep well, eat well, switch off his phone and even add some weight”.

Ngelale was appointed special adviser on media and publicity by Tinubu on July 31, 2023, and later became special presidential envoy on climate action on May 19, 2024.
