  • The committee chairman assured he was going to deliver on the mandate of the party

The newly elected leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has established a 13-member committee to unite all party members under a single platform.

Led by Austin Nwachukwu, the new leadership aims to create a cohesive and robust party in the state through this initiative.

At the inauguration ceremony held at the party’s State Secretariat in Owerri, Nwachukwu emphasized that the Imo PDP, under his leadership, is committed to ensuring the party remains the primary hope for good governance in the state by reconnecting with the people.

He further stated that the reconciliation efforts led by the committee will lay the groundwork for the party to take control of the state’s governance in 2027.

Nwachukwu urged the reconciliation committee to placate and reintegrate disgruntled party members, while also attracting new members to the PDP fold.

Ben Duru, Chairman of the committee, assured the party leadership that his team would fulfill their mandate.

He acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable within a large party like the PDP but emphasized the importance of maintaining a united front.

“It is essential to have the mindset that if you didn’t win today, you can win tomorrow, even better positions. We are one big family. The committee will conduct a thorough review and submit our report within a month,” he assured.

In a press statement, Lancelot Obiaku, the party’s publicity secretary, explained that the committee’s tasks include identifying, engaging with, and reconciling disgruntled members who may be dissatisfied with the recent Wards and LGAs congresses’ outcomes.

The inauguration ceremony was well-attended by members of the State Working Committee and party loyalists.
