  • Oshiomhole is strongly routing for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
  • Amadi said the people of the state should slowly watch the Nigeria police, alleging that they were the problem.

The former chairman of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Sam Amadi, has urged Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki to be vigilant ahead of the state’s governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set September 21 for the Edo state off-cycle election.

Amadi claimed that Adams Oshiomhole, former governor and Edo North senator, cannot emerge victorious without manipulating the outcome.

Oshiomhole has been a key campaigner for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo.

In a Thursday post, Amadi warned that the state’s residents should be wary of the Nigeria police, alleging they pose a threat.

“In Edo election, the focus should not be much on @inecnigeria. In off season elections, INEC comes out well,” Amadi wrote

“The security, especially @PoliceNG is the problem. Watch them slowly.

“@GovernorObaseki should never close his eyes. Adams can’t win without rigging.”

Recall that the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun banned the Edo State Security Network (ESSN) from participating in the gubernatorial elections.

He stated that police operatives will work with other security agencies to ensure a fair election process.

“No private or state-owned security apparatus would be allowed to operate during and after the election,” the IGP said.

“All quasi-security operatives in Edo State should refrain from participating in Edo election. Activities of Edo State Security Network which has been suspended remain suspended.

“35,000 Police officers have been deployed for the election while 8,000 security agents from other national agencies will support the Police.”
