Amid the political crisis rocking Rivers State, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says he has permanently severed ties with the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

This is even as he said he would never support Fubara in his political life again, calling the governor a liar and traitor.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Wike said Fubara tried to turn the public against him.

He accused the governor of lying against him, saying he (Wike) asked him for N20 billion and N100 billion, respectively.

Wike said: “I will never support Fubara in my political life again. No, I won’t do that. That’s why people should know me, I am not a man who deals with left hand. I will never do that, and everybody knows me.

“It’s not about me. People laboured to put up a structure. He wouldn’t have even taken the 5th position. People laboured. I sacrificed to talk to several people. He turned it that I am asking for N20 billion, N100 billion. He turned up lies against me. I brought him up, put him there, pushed him there. Today, Wike is over demanding.”

Wike said Fubara scoffed at the presidential intervention in the crisis rocking the oil rich state and treated everyone with disdain, adding that the governor does not obey the rule of law.

The FCT Minister continued: “The governor took an advantage of the presidential intervention and to insult everybody. I’m an appointee of Mr President and people should understand this thing first of all.

“I never had any bargain before I supported Mr President. People should know that clearly. I believe in his capacity, and I believe in equity, fairness and justice. I never hid my intention of what I was going to do.

“When Mr President called, for Christ sake, he’s the president of the country, there are things I shouldn’t accept. But he’s the president and our father by his age. He appointed me, why should I say no?

“What the governor did was to take advantage of that time period. The president said, ‘re-submit your budget and he refused.’ And what he did was to tell people to go to court. I laughed.

“Why would I support a man who didn’t obey the rule of law. Why will I support impunity?”
