- The suspect allegedly killed the deceased officer identified as Aliyu Abubakar Chiroma on Tuesday, around 2pm in Burra town, Ningi Local Government Area.
One Kabiru Abubakar, a correctional Officer in Bauchi State, has killed his colleague following a misunderstanding over food.
Both officers are attached to the Burra Correctional Centre in the north-east state.
The suspect allegedly killed the deceased officer identified as Aliyu Abubakar Chiroma on Tuesday, around 2pm in Burra town, Ningi Local Government Area.
Locals said the duo were known to be close friends within the correctional facility.
Matters were said to have come to a head when Chiroma brought his lunch, and Kabiru insisted on eating, which led to a heated argument between the duo.
The Public Relations Officer of the correctional centre, Aminu Ahmed, who confirmed the incident to newsmen.
He, however, clarified that it occurred outside the correctional facility.
He noted that Chiroma, the deceased, hailed from Giade LGA, while the suspect, Kabiru Abubakar, is from Dass LGA, saying both officers were posted to Burra Correctional Centre.
Ahmed added that the deceased’s body has been handed over to his family for burial, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Attempts to get the Spokesman of the Command for further comments were unsuccessful as of the time of writing this report.
