- Earlier, Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo, declared the governorship election in the state “a do-or-die affair”.
Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo north, has condemned threats of violence during the Edo governorship election.
Speaking to journalists before casting his vote in Iyamoh Primary School, ward 10 PU1, Etsako West LGA.
The former governor said instigators of violence are “living in a fool’s paradise”.
“I am happy, and I pray that the city remains peaceful,” he said.
“A couple of people have called me, telling me they have started voting. I asked about the environment, and they said it is peaceful. I am very certain that the situation will prevail everywhere as I pray it is going.”
He added that the integrity of the electoral process was more important than the outcome.
He also alleged that an acting national chairman sits pretty in the nation’s capital city of Abuja to issue threats as Edo voters take to polling units.
“Some people are threatening that they will be violence… one of the acting national chairmen said they are going to do bloodbath and so on. He is in Abuja and he is wishing they could do that kind of thing,” Oshiomhole added.
“By the way these people are conducting themselves, you know that those guys are living in a fool’s paradise.”
