  • APC Deputy Governorship candidate Dennis Idahosa criticized Governor Obaseki for being at the INEC office during the election, demanding his departure
  • Idahosa led protests against Obaseki’s presence, claiming he had no official business there, while APC officials accused him of abusing his office

Dennis Idahosa, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized Governor Godwin Obaseki for being present at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office during the election. The incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, when Governor Obaseki reportedly entered the INEC office.

Idahosa, who led a group of protesters to the INEC office, demanded the governor’s immediate departure. He stated that Obaseki had no official business there since he was not an INEC staff member. The protesters, prevented by armed security from entering the premises, banged on the gate while voicing their objections.

Surajudeen Basiru, the APC National Secretary, echoed Idahosa’s sentiments, calling the governor’s presence an abuse of office. He emphasized that Obaseki, not a candidate in the election, had no legitimate reason to be there.

Governor Obaseki eventually left the INEC premises at about 4:45 a.m.
