  • Paul Pogba’s four-year doping ban has been reduced to 18 months, allowing him to return to competitive football in March 2025
  • The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled in Pogba’s favor after he tested positive for a banned substance following a match

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba’s four-year doping ban has been reduced to 18 months, meaning he could return to action in 2025.

According to Mail Sport, Pogba’s initial suspension, which began on September 11, 2023, was cut, with the ban now set to end in March 2025.

The French World Cup winner had been facing the prospect of retirement if his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) was unsuccessful.

Pogba’s appeal was heard at CAS headquarters in Switzerland in late August, with the player recently receiving news of the reduced suspension.

The midfielder, who previously played for Manchester United, was banned after testing positive for a prohibited substance on August 20, following Juventus’ opening match of the 2023-24 season against Udinese.

While neither Pogba’s representatives nor CAS have publicly commented on the decision, the ruling has ended months of uncertainty for the 31-year-old. With the suspension reduced, Pogba can now plan to return to the pitch in 2025.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Paul Pogba will be back to action in 2025, confirmed!”
