  • The PDP chieftain recounted that the crisis stemmed from the party’s last convention.

Bode George, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has appealed to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike and 2023 presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to remain calm.

George urged them to allow PDP elders to resolve the internal crisis that began during the last presidential election build-up, advocating for peaceful deliberation.

Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show, George called on party leaders to put aside their differences and work towards reconciliation.

According to George: “I want to appeal to the leaders of the various groups in the party that it is time to shield your personal ambition and let us rebuild the party.”

“Let the Iroko tree get back because the tap roots are still there and our people outside the country are asking what is happening with the party.”

George acknowledged that every organization faces crises, emphasizing the need to effectively address and rebuild.

He traced the crisis back to the Presidential convention, criticizing the failure to manage it.

As a founding member, George expressed his unwillingness to serve under Ikimi’s committee, clarifying it wasn’t about disrespect.

George reiterated his plea to Atiku and Wike, urging them to calm down and engage in elder-led discussions to address the crisis’s root causes.
