The Ogun State Government has urged residents of flood-affected areas to relocate immediately following the release of water from Oyan Dam.

Communities including Isheri, Riverview Estate, OPIC Estate, Arepo, and Akute have been impacted by the flooding.

Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, reiterated the earlier advisory, issued four months ago, advising residents in low-lying areas to either relocate or elevate their homes.

The flooding is a result of excess water released from the Oyan Dam to prevent potential damage.

Oresanya assured residents that floodwaters are expected to start receding by October 25, thanks to waterways dredged by the state government.

He added that the government is collaborating with Lagos State and the Federal Government to find lasting solutions to the recurring floods.
