  • LASEMA cordoned off the entire bridge and decommissioning efforts has begun to remove remaining concrete members to ensure public safety

There was palpable panic in Lagos State on Thursday following the collapse of a pedestrian on the busy Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.

It was gathered that the Five-Star foot pedestrian bridge partially collapsed around 6:30 a.m., blocking a section of the road.

However, no lives were lost in the incident.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said preliminary investigations revealed that an articulated truck carrying heavy equipment collided with the bridge earlier in the day, causing cracks, weakening of the bridge and its subsequent collapse.
