  • Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya urged Kano voters to actively participate in local government elections, emphasizing the importance of exercising their voting rights
  • Waiya expressed concerns over conflicting court judgments that could harm Nigeria’s democracy and called for resolution from the Chief Justice

Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, Chairman of Citizens for Development and Education (CDE), has urged voters in Kano to participate actively in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Waiya emphasized the importance of exercising the right to vote, allowing citizens to elect their preferred leaders for local council positions.

Waiya also raised concerns over conflicting court judgments that he fears may negatively impact Nigeria’s democracy. He called on Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, to address and resolve these inconsistencies.

As a proponent of peace, Waiya assured that CDE, a non-partisan organization, is committed to maintaining peace and supporting the will of the people, regardless of tribal or religious affiliations. He encouraged voters, saying, “Kano state belongs to everyone, and we will support whoever is elected by the people.”
