Abia State Governor Alex Otti cast his vote on Saturday at Unit 017, Ahiafor, Umuru-Umuehim Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area, alongside his wife, at 12:19 p.m.

In an interview, Otti described the election as largely peaceful, stating, “People are voting and leaving. Reports from the 4,062 polling units indicate that, aside from minor skirmishes in Ohafia and Obingwa, everything is going smoothly.” He added that security forces were mobilised to address any disruptions promptly.

The governor has consistently urged voters to prioritise candidates’ credibility and competence over party affiliation. He cited the success of the mayor of Aba North, who completed an administrative building in 11 months, as an example of the importance of voting for capable leaders.

Otti reminded voters of the long-term consequences of their choices in local government elections. “If you vote for the wrong candidate, you must be prepared to deal with the outcome,” he said.
