NNPC Inaugurates Mammography Centre in Nasarawa State to Enhance Cancer Detection

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), in partnership with TotalEnergies Upstream Nigeria Limited, SAPETRO, CNOOC, and PRIME 130, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art mammography centre at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lafia, Nasarawa State, as part of efforts to combat cancer in Nigeria.

The centre aims to improve access to early cancer detection and treatment, addressing the high mortality rates associated with late-stage diagnosis. Speaking at the commissioning, Mr. Bala Wunti, Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), represented by Mr. Sani Kabo, emphasized NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services in Nigeria. He described the centre as a reflection of NNPC’s dedication to supporting early cancer detection and treatment in line with Group CEO Mele Kyari’s vision for improving the country’s medical system.

TotalEnergies’ Managing Director, Mr. Matthieu Bouyer, represented by Mrs. Tonye Osifo, highlighted TotalEnergies’ ongoing efforts to address healthcare challenges through partnerships. He noted that the mammography centre is part of the company’s broader commitment to the global fight against cancer.
