Katsina road accident leaves 15 dead

  • The accident, which happened on Saturday, involved a Toyota Hiace and Dangote truck.

No fewer than fifteen persons have lost their live in a fatal road accident in Katsina State.

Thirteen other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the auto crash that happened on Funtua-Gusau road, Funtua.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) sector commander, Aliyu Ma’aji, confirmed the accident in a statement on Sunday.

According to the statement by the command’s spokesperson, Shamsudeen Babajo, on Saturday in Katsina, the accident, which happened on Saturday, involved a Toyota Hiace and Dangote truck.

Ma’aji said it resulted from a tyre bust by the Toyota bus, leading to a loss of control and a head-on collision.

The sector commander said the victims were taken to Funtua General Hospital by the corps of Funtua Unit Command’s patrol team.

Mr Ma’aji called on motorists to always monitor the conditions of their tyres before embarking on a journey.

He urged them to avoid speeding, overloading and reckless driving as part of measures to avert road accidents
