  • Tanko emphasized that the movement aims to build a strong foundation for fair and credible elections.
  • He noted that while critics accused the Labour Party of lacking political structure, Obi still garnered substantial support.

Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the ‘Obidient Movement,’ is confident about Peter Obi’s chances of becoming Nigeria’s president in 2027.

Tanko expressed this optimism during a symposium in Onitsha, Anambra State, where he acknowledged the Labour Party candidate’s 2023 loss was marred by electoral malpractice.

However, Tanko assured that the movement would be better prepared for the next election cycle, focusing on mobilization, structure, and youth empowerment.

At the “Repositioning the Obidient Movement for Greater Impact” event, Tanko emphasized that a “new Nigeria” is achievable if citizens choose leaders committed to good governance and accountability.

“We are dedicated to promoting good governance and accountability,” Tanko said, stressing Obi’s potential to emerge as president in 2027 with proper organization.

The movement aims to build a strong foundation for fair elections, addressing critics’ concerns about the Labour Party’s structure.

Despite these concerns, Obi garnered substantial support, but electoral malpractice hindered a fair outcome.

“This time, history will not repeat itself. We will prepare thoroughly,” Tanko assured.

The symposium highlighted the Obidient Movement’s plan to advocate for electoral reform through legislation and public mobilization.

Tanko explained that proposals would be presented to the National Assembly, rallying public support for fair electoral practices.

“Even the North is dissatisfied with the current government,” he said, emphasizing the movement’s commitment to empowering youths and advocating for justice and meaningful change.

The Obidient Movement seeks to establish a Nigeria where citizens’ power is respected, and right leadership brings genuine transformation.
