Musiliu Akinsanya, erstwhile Lagos chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has taken oath as national president.
Mercy Ibeh, the union’s legal advisor, officiated the swearing-in ceremony at Abuja’s national secretariat on Monday.
Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, emerged unopposed in the election held at Osun’s zonal secretariat over the weekend.
Delegates from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti participated in the polls.
A large crowd of supporters welcomed Akinsanya warmly, singing songs as he met National Administrative Council (NAC) and Central Working Committee (CWC) members.
Tajudeen Agbede and Akeem Adeosun were also sworn in as vice president, south-west and trustee.
Akinsanya thanked union members and admirers, promising to uphold the constitution.
“I promised to lead the union to a greater height with the help of almighty Allah,” he said.
